Pesticide residue testing

Pesticide residue testing

QCVN selects GC-MS or LC-MS method for testing / analyzing pesticide residues on vegetable, rice, tomato, non-alcoholic beverages …

  1. Plant protection compounds mainly consist of 4 main groups:

– Organic chlorine group: (organnochlorine):

Chlorine derivatives of some organic compounds such as diphenyletan, cyclodien, benzene, hexane. This group includes very stable organic compounds in the natural environment and long half-life (eg DDT has a half-life of 20 years, they are less eliminated and accumulated in the body creatures through the food chain).

Representatives of this group are Aldrin, Dieldrin, DDT, Heptachlo, Lindan, Methoxychor.

– Organic phosphate group (organophosphorus)

These are esters, organic derivatives of phosphoric acid. This group has a shorter half-life than the organic chlorine group and is more widely used.

This group affects the nerves of insects by preventing the formation of Cholinestaza, making the nerves perform poorly, weakening muscles, causing shock and death. This group includes several compounds such as parathion, malathion, diclovos, clopyrifos.

– Carbamat group:

Organic carbamic derivatives, including chemicals that are less stable in the natural environment, but also highly toxic to humans and animals.

When used, they directly affect the neurotransmitter Cholineestraza of the nervous system and have the same mechanism of toxicity as the organic phosphate group. Represent this group: carbofuran, carbaryl, carbonsulfan, isoprocrab, methomyl …

– Pyrethroid group:

Pesticides are of natural origin, is a mixture of different esters with sentences of complex structures are separated from the flowers of a certain group of daisies. Representatives of this group include: cypermethrin, permethrin, fenvalarate, deltamethrin…

In addition, there are some other groups such as inorganic pesticides (arsenic group), biological pesticides derived from bacteria, fungi, viruses, (fungicides, except bacteria), compound groups Inorganic (Copper, Mercury)

2. Regulation analysis drug residues of plant protection in Vietnam and International

n Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has issued “Regulation on maximum limit of biological and chemical pollution in food” No. 46/2007 / QD-BYT, which clearly stipulates the maximum limit of pesticide residues object.

In Europe, most pesticides have the maximum residue levels that apply to the entire community.

In Europe, most pesticides have the maximum residue levels that apply to the entire community.

In the United States, maximum residue levels with pesticides are established in sections 402, 408, 409 Federal Law on food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics (FFDCA by the Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) monitor at the point of importation for all agricultural products.

To export goods to EU countries, it is necessary to understand the maximum level of certain pesticides and contaminants that may be in food. Specifically:

Statute Document

Food Safety – European Commission

Regulation (EC) 178/2002
Food hygiene, including HACCP Regulation (EC) 852/2004; 853/2004; 854/2004

Examples of some regulations prohibiting pesticides and contaminants in food consumed in the EU:

Object  Document
Contaminants in food Regulation (EC) 1881/2006
The maximum prescribed level for eruxic acid in oils and fats Directive 76/621/EEC
Maximum residue level of pesticides in food Regulation (EC) 396/2005
Microbial contamination in food Regulation (EC) 2073/2005

Examples of some specific regulations focus on a product group in the field of food ingredients:

Object Document
Juice  Directive 2001/112/EC
Honey  Directive 2001/110/EC
Olive oil Regulation (EEC) 2568/91
Sugar Directive 2001/111/EC
